FD Calculator India — Compare Fixed Deposit Returns
A fixed deposit (FD) calculator estimates your maturity amount based on the principal deposited, annual interest rate, tenure, and compounding frequency. FDs are the most popular investment in India — DICGC-insured up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank, offering guaranteed returns that make them ideal for conservative investors and short-term financial goals.
FD interest rates vary significantly across banks and tenures in 2026. Small finance banks like AU Small Finance, Jana, and Ujjivan offer 8–9% for select tenures, while large banks like SBI (6.5–7.1%), HDFC (7–7.25%), and ICICI (6.8–7.25%) are lower but have higher safety ratings. Senior citizens get an additional 0.25–0.50% on top of the regular rate. Our FD calculator online India helps you compare the maturity value across different rates and compounding options.
Quarterly compounding (the RBI-mandated standard for bank FDs) yields slightly more than annual compounding for the same stated rate. ₹5 lakh at 7% for 5 years: annual compounding gives ₹7.01 lakh; quarterly compounding gives ₹7.09 lakh. Tax-saving FDs (5-year lock-in) are eligible for ₹1.5 lakh deduction under Section 80C, though the interest remains taxable.
