Paint Calculator — How Many Litres for Your Room?
Our paint calculator India estimates the litres of paint needed to cover your room walls based on the room dimensions and number of coats. It automatically subtracts the area of standard doors and windows, so you get an accurate estimate without purchasing excess paint or running short midway through.
Standard coverage: Premium emulsion paint covers approximately 12–14 m² per litre for interior walls and 10–12 m² per litre for exterior (rougher surfaces absorb more). Two coats are recommended for new surfaces; one coat for repainting over a similar colour. Our calculator uses 12 m²/litre as the standard and recommends adding 10% for wastage, touch-ups, and uneven surfaces.
Paint type guide for Indian conditions: (1) Interior walls — washable emulsion (Asian Paints Tractor Emulsion, Berger Bison) for budget, acrylic emulsion for premium (Asian Paints Royale, Nerolac Excel). (2) Exterior — weather-resistant exterior emulsion mandatory (Apex Ultima, Weathercoat). (3) Bathroom walls — moisture-resistant paint. (4) Kitchen — semi-gloss or gloss for easy cleaning. Our room paint calculator works for all these types — adjust coverage slightly for textured or rough surfaces.
